The itineraries wind through beech forests and karst areas where it is possible to observe fascinating geological phenomena such as sinkholes and caves. The Sentiero Frassati del Lazio, which touches several locations in the area, is an excellent option for those wishing to combine walking, spirituality, and landscape observation. No less important is the Bosco di Faito, a natural area of great botanical value that offers relief during hot summer days and trails suitable for families as well.

Practical tips for your visit

The Monti Lepini are best suited for a slow visit. A car is almost essential to move between villages, given the winding nature of the mountain roads, but the pleasure of driving is rewarded by unique panoramas. The local gastronomy deserves a special mention: in addition to the aforementioned Bassiano prosciutto, the area is famous for the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil, pecorino cheeses, and a peasant culinary tradition that enhances forest products. The best time to explore this area is spring, when the flowering makes the hills particularly lush, or autumn, ideal for hiking thanks to mild temperatures and the warm colors of the deciduous forests.
